A part of the fabric of downtown College Park since for the past 10 years has closed.
The Pecan, an upscale Southern restaurant owned and operated by Chef Tony Morrow at 3725 Main St., closed its doors last week. A single sign taped to the front door addressed the closure:

An employee who answered the phone at Tony Morrow’s Real Pit BBQ, located down the street from The Pecan at 3807 Main St., also confirmed the restaurant had closed its doors. Morrow did not return calls seeking comment.
The menu at The Pecan featured Southern fusion dishes including oven-roasted buttermilk pecan chicken, Atlantic fried lobster tails and pepper-crusted New Zealand lamb chops.
A Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport outpost of The Pecan remains open.
Morrow discussed the need for fine dining in South Fulton with the AJC after The Pecan’s opening in 2006.
“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, ” Morrow said. “They’re saying, ‘We don’t have to go to Buckhead if we don’t want to. We can have the Buckhead experience here in College Park.’ “
